Sitting close to the TV or reading too close to your face
Reading in Poor Light

Actually reading in dim light has no effect on your eyes. Think of your eye like a camera, it focuses, captures light, and interprets an image. So just like a camera, a photograph in dim light will not damage the capturing system.

Your parents always yelled at you for sitting too close to the TV. We've all been there. However, many do not know that young eyes focus better up close, naturally. So its a quite normal behavior, and not at all damaging to the eyes.

Our eye muscles are strong and are meant to be moved and flexed. Just like looking left or right will not mean your eyes will stay that way, crossing eyes will not. Crossed eyes may result from a muscle disorder or refractive error, but notfrom holding your eyes that way.

Once again, wrong. This does not affect the eye in any way. It may temporarliy give you a headache as your eye tries to focus, but it does not cause damage.

Crossing the eyes can make them permanently crossed
Wearing eyeglasses that are the wrong prescription damages your eyes
